HISTORY OF THE ESTATE

1951 Owned by Squire Lawson Hope who lived in great style at the Manor. He hoped his nephew Clive would inherit, but he emigrated to Kenya. On the death of the old squire, Brookfield was purchased.

1954 The estate was bought by George Fairbrother, father to Grace.

1959 Charles Grenville took over the Fairbrother Estate.

1965 Most of Grenville’s land was bought by Ralph Bellamy

1975 Ralph Bellamy sold 1,500 acres to Brian Aldridge, so establishing Home Farm. 1,000 acres went to Mr Barnet who set up the Blossom Hill Estate. The remaining 1,000 acres were renamed the Berrow Estate.

1990 Ralph’s widow, Lilian Bellamy, sold the Estate intact to Cameron Fraser

1992 It was bought by Guy Pemberton

1996 On Guy Pemberton’s death it was bequeathed to his son, Simon

1997 Berrow Estate bought by a city consortium with Brian Aldridge as manager
