WOMAN FREED IN ARMCHAIR CASE

Police investigating the notorious Armchair Murder Case today released a suspect without charge. The woman, a widow, had been interviewed at a local police station following the gruesome murder of an as yet unnamed man two days ago.

Detective Inspector Llewdow, drafted in from Aberystwyth CID to head up a crack team of Metropolitan Police homicide officers, played down the significance of the woman's arrest at this morning's press conference. "The investigation is at an early stage, and this lady was merely helping us with our inquiries. We are completely satisfied that she was in no way involved in this violent death."

The woman is believed to be the

Manageress of the riverside Business Conference Centre where the victim's body was discovered late on Wednesday. Unofficial sources hinted that police initially believed the victim to have been poisoned after a lethal quantity of ratsbane was injected into one of the pre-packed Deluxe Businessman's Buffet lunches served by the Centre. This morning's autopsy ruled out that theory when the possible presence of any suspicious chemical substances in the corpse was eliminated.

DI Llewdow remained upbeat, noting that the investigating teams had plenty of leads to follow up. "At this stage its largely about eliminating suspects from our inquiries. Hopefully, once we have done this, we can identify the killer."
