NO CHANGE AS CHARGES DROPPED
Another man helping police with their inquiries in the infamous Armchair Murder Case was today released without charge, but the man leading the case remained confident of eventually identifying the killer.
A thirty year old Financial Advisor from Essex walked free after an extended interrogation by the CID detectives. "We were following up a line of investigation involving illegal loan sharking, and thought we had a lead," explained DI Llewdow, who was brought in shortly after the gruesome slaying of an as-yet unidentified man to head up the investigation. "Charges may still be brought, but not in connection with the murder."
Unofficial sources talked of immense disappointment on

Llewdow's part. "He was banking on a conviction. The theory was that it was a revenge killing after the suspect had cooked the books and the victim had refused to go with the flow. The suspect had stewed for a while, and had killed his uncooperative client in a heated argument with a blunt instrument."
However, a conviction failed to materialise when police interviews got little change from the suspect, who then had to be released when the Coroner's Inquest revealed the sums of money involved were really just too small.
Llewdow did however note that police had now covered around half the names on their list of suspects. "Detective work is mostly about hard graft," he observed. "We have eliminated a number of people from our inquiries, and I am sure we will ultimately identify the killer."
