The 2021 hunt was written by James Medhurst, a member of The Urban Marsupial Orchestra team. Sadly, James died in early 2021 after contracting Covid. He had previously sent large sections of his hunt to his teammates for test solving. The rest of the team has therefore been able to use his work as a base and finish writing the 2021 hunt. The 2021 treasure hunt is a tribute to James and his unique puzzling brain.
The poster was published on 26 November 2021, and the Advent calendar ran from 1 to 10 December 2021, with a mid hunt update on 24 December 2021. The Hunt was released on 10 December 2021. The closing date was 10 January 2022.
Messages from the setters
These messages were sent by the setters to teams during the Hunt.
27 Dec 2021 Update: Please note that the barcode on the 24 December advent calendar entry is entirely for aesthetic purposes. The advent calendar entry has been updated with a barcode which simply reads 1234567890 to avoid any future confusion.
30 Dec 2021 Update: A New Year's Poem from the Setters:
All that is cold is not coldest,
Not all cards that are shown have a twin;
The primes, Ptolemy’s was the oldest,
Answers can be found from within.
From the themes an idea shall be woken,
And words from the puzzles shall spring;
Renewed shall be spirits that were broken,
A letter may look like a ring.
